Thanks again for being ever so helpful. That being said, can you please share your thoughts on the following situation?
140 approved, 485 pending for more than 180 days, EAD/AP approved, and in hand.
Candidate leaves sponsoring employer and joins another employer (similar position/salary, etc.) New employer's attorneys send the AC21 letter and G-28 forms to the USCIS. The attorneys are very familiar with this, have handled lots of AC21 cases (Fragomen).
Is there any way the candidate can call USCIS customer service and ask for the attorney/representative's name on file, just to make sure that the G28 did get processed and the attorney name on file got changed from the old law firm to the new one? Would customer service share that information with the candidate?

Yes and no. It depends on the customer service representative or if you take infopass, it depends on the VO. You generally know when your Attorney files for G 28 because you actually sign the G 28. G 28 is like any other form like 485 or EAD or AP etc... so if your 485 and 140 and h1b everything gets filed properly why do you think g 28 does not get filed properly?
Try to be very pleasing and polite to a CS rep or a VO and try to get the info, they may let you know your Attorney on file.

The main goal of IV is to bring an end to labor processing delay in the backlog center and I-485 retrogression. We have consistently mentioned this in all possible forums. This has been clearly mentioned on home page. And if there is anybody who has any doubt, we would request you to please call us at (281) 576-7185.
I am beginning to realize that for some people who do not want to contribute, there will always be plenty of reasons and plenty of excuses not to participate & contribute. I think these people are the ones who are actually responsible for the problems of all of us. Our problems do not originate in the slow GC process or the existing bad legislation. Our problems originate due to the people who are always looking for reasons to not participate or do anything or these people who are always looking for reasons to feel offended. And these people are sure doing a wonderful job because there will always be plenty of reasons to feel offended or not feel part of the group or not find enough motivation to feel part of the bigger community.
Asking questions or requesting a specific item in the goals is one thing. People beating the drum of transparency …. That is no big deal either. Everybody is entitled for their opinion. But people watching from the sidelines or for the people who want to include agenda as Goals of the IV or for the people putting conditions to their contributions, here is what I have to say to you. I would sincerely request you to never visit Immigration Voice or any other immigration related forum or website. You guys are the real problem because you are the once helping to foster the current system by not participating in brining the change. At the end of the day, know that you are the real culprits not the system which will be shaped by the contribution of each of us.
In last 2 weeks the contributions has really come down drastically. Everybody please note that we are running very low on the funds collection. All of us have two choices. One, contribute for this cause generously and lead the friends and acquaintances by example and tell them to do the same. Secondly, find reasons to not participate or not to contribute due to this, that or whatever …. The choice is entirely yours. But with your choice also understand whether you are being part of the solution or part of the problem. And whatever you do (including posting negative messages), I would sincerely request everybody to ask yourself one question, whether you (or your post) are strengthening or weakening this effort.
I would like to request all the members who have not yet contributed to please contribute generously. Please put your money where your mouth is. This effort or any similar effort for that matter cannot do much without the necessary funds that only come in the form of contributions from its members. And for those of us who have already contributed in the past, its time to please contribute more and help to fuel this effort.
This is not just about the life of the people who started this effort or the core/active members who have taken the initiative and responsibility. This is about all of us whether or not you feel part of it or not. It doesn’t make any difference how you feel about the situation or state of affairs. Why? Because this will be over very soon. And for the people who want to continue to ponder over this idea of whether or not they have a sense of belonging to IV, I would sincerely request you to please understand and know that by any contribution to this effort, you are strengthening your own voices. Know that this is not about anybody else but you.

I agree that EAD renewals will take longer than usual because of our sheer volume. And there is no interim EAD. Do you guys think its safer to be on H1B (mine is valid till 2010) rather than EAD/AP?

For those who are attending the event, it would be beneficial if someone could provide some tips about moving around DC area/Capitol Hill area for these lobby days. Will there be an IV arranged transportation ?

AND ONE MORE THING. THESE PROCESSING DATES ARE FOR RENEWAL APPLICATIONS. NOT FOR NEW APPLICATIONS. FROM MY EXPERIENCE I SAW FIRST TIME FILERS ARE GETTING THEM IMMEDIATELY THAN RENEWALS WHICH WERE TAKING 2-3 MONTHS.

I don't know if this question has been asked before. Is there a benefit for filing AP by paper rather then electronically. I filed EAD by paper to TCS and got the "Card Production Ordered" email yesterday (in 14 days) for myself and my wife. My friends who efiled just received finger printing appointment notification and no receipts. Is there same benefit with AP? Please calrify.

I hope you get in time before your EAD expires. My EAD was expiring on 09/24 and my employer submitted on June 24 (no efiling) & RD dt June 24; Got my EAD approval email on 07/28 and card received on 08/01/2008; but renewed EAD runs from 7/30 - 7/29/2010; I did not mind the disappearance of 2 months. Which service center did you apply

I feel sorry for the people who live in slums of dharavi but not for people who should not have been in the US in the first place (based on their education) and are now finding ways to get ahead of the legit EB2 candidates by buying masters degrees.
They are NOT buying MS, they are inquiring where the fees are cheaper. If this is buying MS, even you *bought* your Masters (and every other degree) unless you are from the 1% who get full scholarship (you would definitely have been in EB1 had you been in that layer).

I guess country quota is root of all our green card related griefs. everybody else can dream of getting a green card someday, but EB-3/EB-2 India & China should stop dreaming about Green cards...I am sure this can be prooved illegal.
Yes true. This is the only angle that is viable in theory. All that can be done is challenge that the per country quota violates the constitution. Then the judge can strike that clause off.

Rakesh, you are the first person to oppose my idea in a civil manner. A couple of guys in the forum supported the idea, but you are the first one to oppose it in a decent way. I wish IV core and other senior members show at least 50% your decency.
Mine was a just suggestion. If it is not a good one, we will not proceed with it. Your point makes perfect sense. But just as an information, many of the mortgage bonds were actually financed by oil money from the Middle East. Now a days those Sheiks are not that hot on investing in America.
Just curios, how come you have all those red dots?

You are proposing to take the money that is in the system, i.e asking banks to lend you money. The current crisis is credit crunch. Banks dont have money. All they have is mortgage bonds. There are no takers of these bonds. They are becoming junk. So, if any money from outside flows in, there will be some difference.

As long as you dont use your EAD, you can continue working on H1B.
In fact, if it is the same employer as your GC sponsor, you dont have to do anything.
The thing to remember is to extend your H1B if you do a H1B transfer so you dont have any issues at the time of transfer.
All this is assuming that your company policy can handle exceptions to the policy :)

When you send all the relevant documents to invoke AC21, there is every possibility for the officer to check whether you have an approved EAD or not. In that case there might be a problem. I may not be correct. But to switch to a new employer, you definitely need a EAD card. I switched employers. My new employer asked for work permit(EAD in this case)
Note : Please check with your attorney, I'm just one like you and this is my experience
